E17 Art Trail

Hello!
It's been a while since I have posted on here having handed the reins of Meow magazine over to a new editorial team in October last year however for one weekend only I am back as an honorary Meow member (no mean feat having graduated and left lovely Middlesex Uni and therefore Meow behind!).

This Sunday, 11th September, Meow will have a stall at the Book-ish event in the E17 Art Trail in Walthamstow. Selling back copies of everyone's favourite illustrated zine I will be joined by Middlesex tutor Andrew Baker and third year illustrators Eileen Kwan and Abi Moulder. Aside from the magazine we will also have lots of handmade and illustrated goodies for sale so please do come along...

The new theme is COSTUMES.

Artwork needs to be grayscale and A5 format.

Please send us anything that fits the theme (not just Halloween please!), we want Illustrations, Articles, Interviews, Poems, Photographs....Whatever you like!

Deadline is Monday 8th November.

After a very long summer break we are back again!
The NEW THEME will be announced on Monday so make sure you are ready to start submitting.

London Zine Symposium 2010

Meow are lucky enough to have bagged a stall at the brilliant London Zine Symposium event.

On the 29th May we will join other zine makers at the Rag Factory in Brick Lane from 12pm-6pm to sell Meow and a selection of wonderful wares produced by the super talented
Middlesex Illustration Students.

First Day at the Art Shop

We opened up the shop today and had a very successful turn out and raised a lot of cash for our degree show. We're open every day this week 11am-5pm until Friday so make the most of it and buy as much as you can before everything runs out.

Meow at the Old Art Shop

Posters will be going up around cat hill today informing all you lovely people that we are in charge of the old art shop and will be selling a lot of goodies and providing FREE BOOZE tomorrow! So don't miss out and use this as an excuse to complete your Meow zine collection by buying all of our past and present issues, and also kill two birds with one stone and contribute to raising money for our degree show.

Pets Issue

Are you ready for this? MEOW - IS - IN - COLOUR! We asked for some colourful submissions and we got them along with some very nice black and white images too. This is a ground breaking issue so snap one up for £2 while there's still time!

Sketchbooks Issue

Meow's Sketchbook issue went down very well, with plenty of great submissions and THREE interviews to keep you intellectually stimulated. This issue as a really good insight into how people like to keep their sketchbooks.

Cake Sale No.2

Our second cake sale was another great success - we sold quite a few of the fabulous new Sketchbooks issue on the day and lots of 2nd year illustrators contributed gorgeous cakes to sell! We made a fantastic £96.00 to be added to the money raised for our degree show next year so thanks to everyone who participated or bought something on the day.

Pictures from the Sketchbooks issue will be coming soon! For anyone yet to buy a copy it's a great one and can be purchased from Cat Hill illustration studio/airport lounge canteen or by emailing meowmagazine@hotmail.co.uk.

Our theme for the next issue is 'PETS' so as always get your contributions in too!!

Christmas Issue.....

Meow had a very Merry Christmas Issue....an envelope containing not just our super December edition with fantastically festive illustrations, an interview, recipe and diy cut out to name a few of the treats inside there was also a free gift made by one of the editorial team. Cake!

To promote our new Meow we held a cake sale at Cat Hill campus selling a mountain of cakey delights and our wonderful new Meow 'I Love London' issue. All in aid of our 2011 degree show we raised £81.12, fanastic for such a small event! Thank you for those who bought and brought cakes on the day.

CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!

Entries are needed for the Christmas edition of Meow. Again, more changes will be made so don't miss out!
Submission deadline is Thursday 3rd December - as alway email your submissions at 200dpi, A5 format and grayscale to meowmagazine@hotmail.co.uk or put them in the Meow drawer in illustration studio 80/81 bearing these requirements in mind.

I Love London - New Meow Team

Some changes!
Meow has been taken over by the new team Stacie Swift, Emma Block, Gemma Travis & Shane Noonan. We have big plans for Meow this year!!

For our first issue the theme is 'I Love London' - submissions deadline is Thursday 12th November. As always submissions should be sent to meowmagazine@hotmail.co.uk or put into the Meow drawer in the illustration studio room 80/81.

All submissions are welcome, any images, articles, reviews, creative writing....anything you like on the 'I Love London' theme!

We will post some of the best designs from this issue on this blog next week!

Submissions needed for Portraits Issue.
Deadline Thursday 15th October 2009.

Thank you to everyone who came to The Rag Factory to support our stall at the London Zine Symposium today, for those who didn't, here are a few photographs of our lovely stall. We did bring along some screenprints, etchings and posters, but unfortunately had nowhere to display them, which was a shame, but we enjoyed the day all the same, and will definitely be attending more of these gatherings in the future.
